Yes, finally, we made it! Don't get me wrong, I do love to venture away from my home, but have come to realize that there is definitely no place like home. Short visits away are rejuvenating and relaxing, but any longer than that to visit relatives is to long. With my kids getting older now they tend to want to stay around their own neighborhood with their friends rather than do the visiting thing. Vacations and camping is one thing they look forward to, but to simply visit another, is just not their cup of tea. I can completely relate to them and think back when I was a young child. My brothers and I could not wait to begin our vacations with our mother and father, we counted the time down to when we would be leaving and the anticipation alone was nerve wracking. Unfortunately, having to do the weekend visits to relatives took the zest out of the thrill. Visiting was fine, in short sporatic phrases, but anymore than that and we just dreamed of vacation time or thought of what our friends would be doing. Thinking back makes me truly relate with my children. Home is a special place. Having that special feeling and coziness is something I truly am blessed my children can experience. Wanting to go home - is no better phrase that I as a parent can hear - it only reinforces the bond and specialness that have developed with my children. Are we home yet? -has a nice ring to it!
