The Role of the Paralegal

I have been involved in the legal field as a paralegal and legal secretary for approximatel 20 years. In that time frame I have had the opportunity to work with many lawyers. I have had the foresight of being able to not so much judge a book by its cover, but quickly understand the very different personalities in a variety of law firm settings that you come across. I have been able to pinpoint exactly the type of lawyer I will be placed with to work side by side as quick as shaking the persons hand for the first time. Many are very comfortable in their role and do not attempt to negate or patronize a fellow worker, while others are very quick to play the role of boss to their fullest extent. Little do those who have the boss mentality know that their work needs us to get them out the door to do their jobs. A paralegal has a very high standard to keep. They have to dot all the i's, and check and recheck their work in order that the lawyer is able to go before the court.
