NO NEGATIVE ENERGY IN MY CIRCLE

No negative energy in my circle is a motto or saying that I have made my calling card for sometime now. I base my everyday struggles and accomplishments on this saying that I believe in. So much has been going on since The Typing Queen has last written. Its funny how time really does fly and life is just a continous journey. With the craziness and hussle and bussle of life sometimes we forget to take time to enjoy all the happiness given to us. My son is now in high school and my daughter begins middle school. While I can look at those 2 accomplishments of theirs and be sad that they are growing up, I can also feel fulfilled as a parent that they are continuing their journeys towards fulfilling accomplishments for their futures. Keeping the negativity away is sometimes easier said than done, but when it comes down to it, it is more rewarding and fulfilling to have peace sourrounding you towards your journey, rather than drama.

SCHOOL TIME!!

It seems that summer has come and gone. Unfortunately the weather did not agree with us. Today we will see the end of summertime fun and the beginning of the school craze. First days of school are always exciting and nerve-wracking. The kids are excited about what to expect, meeting their friends, making new ones, and of course, being able to finally wear their new school clothes. Parents on the other hand are full of delight and anxiety. Delight that the children are back on a scheduled regiment but full of anxiety because you want your child to have a great day. The school bells will ring soon to start the new year off with a bang. Buses are busy escorting students to the schools to begin their first of 180 days of learning. I can only guess the happiness the kids will show when they receive their first nights homework.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Family Fun Night has always been a very important part of our family. It is the time of week that everyone counts down to. No matter what is going on during the week at 6:00 on Friday evening, everyone is home and ready to begin our night of fun. I love seeing the smiles on my children's faces when we spend together time. As parents, these are the most precious memories that me and my husband are so honored to share with them. Friday evenings at our home are when we begin our traditional Family Fun Night. It is when we are at the end of our long and hectic week of running errands and handling work schedules that we are able to take a breath and relax with each other. We begin our nights by playing board games and watching a movie, while popping popcorn and ordering pizza. The night is full of laughter and happiness. I treasure the times that I share with my family and know that by the expressions on their faces they truly appreciate and love our family tradition of Family Fun Night.

BROTHER OF MINE -GONE TO SOON, GONE TO YOUNG!

Today I am seemingly lost. Lost in thought and memories. I am thinking of my brother who would have turned 39 today. It seems like just yesterday that we lost him, yet he was all of 22 when he died. The bond we had still feels strong and binding. My brother was younger than me, yet I considered him my 'big brother'. We did practically everything together. Hung in the same circles, went to the same schools. Memories make it tolerable, but sad. I am sad that he has never met my husband. I am sad that he has never met my children. I am sad that he never experienced the joy of marriage and children. There is a void there that will never be filled, but the joy of memories will forever live on. Happy Birthday!!!

Momfinitions

Twitter Moms and Parent Connect are having a fun and easy contest. Write 5 "Momfinitions" and get cash -

Here are my Momfinitions -

1. Cranky pants - What typically occurs when a child misses a nap, or it is definitely time for bed.

Oh, no, its past 8 o'clock, no wonder they have cranky pants.

2. Toynado - This occurs when when all the toys are spread out as if a tornado had just passed through.

This toynado needs to be picked up.

3. Aggrenoyer - this is when one sibling becomes the aggrevator while the other sibling is the annoyer.

Stop aggrenoying each other.

4. Degrime Time - This is another word for bath time.

It is now officially Degrime Time!

5. crankyface - this is another way to describe a pouty child.

What is with the crankface, smile!

THE ANNOYING SUCKERS

If I could describe the mosquito in one word I would have to say ANNOYING. My daughter is severely allergic to this sucking annoyance. In order to venture out after dusk we have to do our daily routine of long pants/shirts, spray her down with bug repellent, and carry her EpiPen, all to rush to the car to get where we need to go, hoping and praying along the way she is not stung that quickly. The aftermath of being bitten is horrible, breathing problems, extreme swelling, redness, and itchiness to name a few. I find myself cringing at the thought and sight of more rain. We are extremely proactive in our quest to kill this insect. We have tried it all, bug sprays in every form, mosquito magnets, bug zappers, bug nettings, fog guards all to no avail. The little annoyers seem more powerful than all I have found. I need to invent the special concoction that can overtake these blood suckers once and for all.

FAMILY TRADITIONS

Family traditions are very important. You do not realize how important they are until you are able to share them with your own children. I am blessed to be able to share my tradition of the 4th of July with my children. The 4th of July has always been a very special holiday to me. Growing up we would have the family tradition of going to our summer camp and spending time with family. The BBQ and fire pits would stay going the whole weekend long. This was common place growing up. We would swim all day, and do sparklers at night by the fire pit. As I got older it is a tradition that has continued with my brothers. We would continue the tradition of getting together and going camping together for the weekend. I so truly cherish all of the memories, and enjoy even more being able to look back at the photographs and laugh at the memories created by all of the good times. As the years progressed we shared our tradition and special time with our boyfriends/girlfriends and then our spouses. We still continue the family tradition of camping for the 4th of July. Our children have known no other way of celebrating this beautiful holiday other than camping with each other by the fire pit, while watching the fireworks and doing sparklers. Everyone becomes eager with anticipation as the time for the great holiday approaches. Creating new memories each year makes it all worthwhile. I can hardly contain my excitment as it is now that time of year once again. Get the campground ready, here we come!!!
